Well got my own shaman blog again… hopefully i can find some of the nice vid’s again but oh well,

i looked at the old posts here and found an interesting one that i’m posting a new, but a little diffrent:

So as said my line up changed considerably since now.

Soloing and grouping as elemental:
Since i solo in Elemental, I try to reduce my downtime as much as possible and I try to keep my damage as high as possible. So the line up is the following:
- Totem of wrath (or magma totem)
- Water shield
- flamethongue weapon
Yes I only drop one totem.. sometimes 2 (mana spring) if i’m low on mana.

Why? => since i’m spamming LB and FrS all the time the earth/wind/water totems aren’t needed. Or atleast not untill i get my wrath of air totem. It also costs mana, and its not effective.
why do i use FrS (frost shock) Well the mobs don’t live long enough to benifit from FS.

Solo i hit 550 DPS (in group 750) and i drink about 2times a lvl. (granted i use my trinket, thunderstorm and if needed potions to get mana)

Note: with this setup in a group I drink quite a lot though, since i CL FrS LB all the time.

Healing in a group:
-Water shield
- earthliving weapon
- Flamethongue totem (spellpower ftw)
- Mana spring totem

Again minimizes the downtime and gives a nice SP boost.
Mostly i can just earth shield the tank, and LHW or Riptide him.

Lvling and healing at lvl63ish is easy and fun, so no need for large tactics or rotations. keep it simple and if needed use your “oh shit buttons”
i use grid+clicque so i have lhw at left click, chain heal at middle, riptide at rightclick
HW at shift left, ES at shift middle and the decurse/depoison/dedisease at shift right
hotbar: 1- instant o shit button 2 – 60/40/20% crit oh shit button
so a “1″ shift click is instant save. (not like its ever needed before lvl70+ or with a bad pug

I always put up Water Shield if I’m running at 50% or less mana otherwise I have Lightning Shield to damage mobs when they hit me.

Constantly on the run between mobs I lay either Mana Spring or Healing Spring, Earthbind and Magma totems – usually when dealing with 2 or more mobs otherwise I just put Mana totem down. I then hit Flame Shock which is a DOT (damage over time), Lightning Bolt, Earth Shock, Lightning Bolt, then Frost Shock specially when dealing with mobs who like running away.

If you’re with a tank buddy (or someone who can take damage better) then make sure you have Wind Shock at hand to pop when you need to lower your threat. BTW Frost Shock causes a lot of threat so I try not to use that if I’m healing a group.

Also if you’re just selling the white items like meats and stuff to the vendor, I would suggest downloading a simple add-on from www.curse.com called AuctionMaster or Auctioneer. Set it to sell everything by undercutting by 90% and this allows you to throw all that white stuff on the Auction House when you’re clearing your bag. The add-on will get the prices of that item and if you undercut at 90% of the lowest item being sold then it should sell. Once I fill my bags I send them to my bankalt so I don’t have to go back to the city all the time. Then I have my bankalt sell the items and I make about 20-40g just for selling the things I’ve picked up over a couple hours of questing. It’s better than making like 2g selling to a vendor and it doesn’t take much time to do.

One thing I would like to know is what to imbue my weapon with? I’m using Flametongue at the moment.

Also there seems to be ‘sets’ of spells and enchants to use, like the Frost stuff or Fire. What is the best?

Sunday was a beautifull day!
me, my gf and my mate 3manned sfk at lvl20 without any problems, and i got 2 blue drops! So i was very happy indeed. then, we decided to take a small break from dungeons, questing a little, and getting the last quest from DM (van cleefs head) since we forgot that one (oops).
Well, i did the Quest with a few others, and got myself to lvl 22.
Then i got a wacky idea… and i mean a straight of the hood suicidal impulse kinda idea. at lvl 22 I wanted to solo the DM, or at least as far as i could get. I ad fraps running to screenshot the bosses and make a small movie if needed and went into the DM.
So how to solo DM asa Resto shammy at lvl22 (23 as i dinged at the rahk’zur)
To be honest:, it was pretty easy. Rhak’zur was just a long fight, since my dps is low, i healed my self constantly and let my totems do half of my damage, because i had watershield on, and its major and minor glyph, i didn’t even run out of mana. after rahk’zur i went to the goblins, pretty easy, just pull them by two back to the beginning of the room (there my strength of the earth and healing stream totem where up) and outlast them. Now then ofc you get sneed and sneed’s shredder. and your not going to believe this but… i managed to kill sneed’s shredder only taking 3 hits and sneed while only taking 2! (i took the hits because i needed the mana) it was the easiest fight i ever had! how did i do it? quite simple: (you just need to be ranged for this) stand on the “bridge” in the center and lightning bolt/frostshock him. then move to your right (if your facing the way out!) and because mobs just have normal pathfinding, they will go back towards the door (leading to goblin foundry) and come around to you. repeat this, going from the bridge and off, and you wont get hit if you time it right. ofc, this takes a lot of mana, so have a mana potion ready, and watershield up at all times! in 2 mins Sneeds shredder fell to the gorund. so i backed off and started to eat drink, and rinse/repeated the progress with sneep! it was too easy and i imagine, that if youre lvl20 with enough mana, you could already solo him! Now, my fraps… i started it just before the fight, but as i can see on my video, i pushed the button 2 times (/facepalm!) so i’m going to do it again today (hopefully) and make a small video of it. So you can see what i mean and believe me a bit easier

as requested, I’m going to give you my personal view about Totems, ofcourse Aphrodyti (sorry if i misspelled ) will give her view about it, but I hope this helps her and helps you all, making up your mind about what to drop.
The basics of totems are pretty simple, you can place 1 for each element.
the problem however is… what to put down!

At first it starts of quite easy, but once you hit lvl40ish you got 2 full bars of those things… and when you first see some, you’ll go: what? i don’t need that….WRONG! so so so wrong… i have used almost every totem at least once! (exept sentry totem… still don’t know what the heck i can do with that)

So i got 2 basic setups (one for groups and one for soloing) and i’ll give you those first.

SOLO:
Stoneskin Totem (i already have around 40% damage reduction while soloing but still is very nice to have) otherwhise i’ll drop strength of the earth, which is  a huge, really huge boost to dps (even at lvl10 its still awesome!)
Magma Totem which damages every mob in the area every 2secs. (very handy)
mana spring totem (need to keep my mp5 flowing!) or healing stream if im getting to much damage, and want to reduce some.
Now as for wind totems its a bit trickier,since there are 2 good ones: Windfury totem (meelee haste, but i always have the enchant up so its no good) or wrath of air totem (faster casting) mostly i use this one, since i already have the other one.

GROUP:
in a group it’s a looknfeel. i mainly (as a healer) use: strength of earth, ftotem of wrath (spellpower) totem, healingstream, windfury/Wrath of air (depending if we have more casters or meelee’s)
though beware! if someone gets poisoned or diseased, you’ll need to swap healingstream for the cleansing totem, or drop tremor totem for magical debuffs.

and what with the rest of the totems?
Granted the rest of the totems you’ll not use often, but they are a life saver when you need them.
Resistance totems, pretty obvious, when you’re going against casters or guys who do fire damage, drop the fire resisting totem.
Stoneclaw and earthbind totem, these are so nice if you want to run through an area of mobs but don’t want to kill them (shortage of time or just don’t feel like it), granted this you’ll use a lot below lvl30 but even in caves at later lvls this is very nice. drop earthbind first, then if another mob comes, drop stoneclaw, rinse and repeat
element totems are very nice, for tougher fights.
Manatide when you need mana quickly.
and thats about it that i know of, at the top of my head.

God my actionbars are full with those things!
yes sir/ma’m, they are! i got 2 addon’s for you, and both i use:
Totemcaddy (only use this when you have all the four elements or it won’t work!) which displays a nice box, with 1 totem of each element, your shield, your weapon enchant and a WF timer.
totemtrapbar which adds 4 small bars, just above your action bars, with all your totems in it. (each element has a bar) which is just so handy to clean up your normal action bars!
though i would recommend, to put your most used totems in a quickbar, these addons make your life soooo much easier… but hey i’m an addon junkie so maybe that ain’t the complete truth…

to get the comments going: what totem line up do you all use?

Picked up all the quests in Southshore. The mobs in this area are around level 30 so not too easy or hard to solo this area.

I’m currently using Questhelper which is an add-on that helps you locate quest items and kills  for completing quests much easier than actually reading the quest itself and figuring out where said mobs/items are. Makes levelling much faster and mostly everyone uses it. You can download it from www.curse.com

I can’t currently find a talent tree calculator with 3.1 patch builds so I can link here but will explain my chosen talent points a bit:

- I took 5 points in Enhancement. Ancestral Knowledge increases intellect by 10%

-The rest of the points I placed in Restoration. Choosing any mana reducing talents plus Tidal Force which up’s crit and Water Shield to gain even more mana. Also Healing Focus which reduces pushback when being attacked, that means when u cast a healing spell you won’t be interrupted as much while mobs are hitting you. Good if you are solo levelling.

anyways…

Did a few quests and made it 4 bars from Level 31 in about an hour. Murlocs are gross Hate those guys!

Next entry I think I’ll talk about totems, perhaps Ariana can help us out I have my favorites but there are so many to choose from, I think some of them become obsolete but it doesn’t make sense that Blizz would design it that way.
